About Barton

*A Barton & Co.(Toys) Ltd started trading officially in 1945, as soon as the war finished.

*The first official trademark of Bartons was an ink stamp of a diamond with the letter A B & Co. Then in 1949 this was replaced with a label for a time.

*Bartons flourished, using other suppliers for certain items eg.Barrett & Son metal items, Grecon Dolls, Kaybot plaster food.

*In 1975 the Caroline’s Home Range was brought out. By now the use of plastic was extensive.

*In 1984 Barton was bought out by Lundby Ltd.

Vintage Barton Court Cupboard With Original Red/Black AB & Co (Toys) Ltd Label @ £29.50 SOLD

The vintage Barton Tudor Period range was believed to have been sold from 1948, through to 1977. However, this appears to be  one of the older models of the dark stained Barton court cupboard from their Tudor Period Range. Unusually it still has the original black and red paper diamond AB & Co (Toys) Ltd label (not often seen as much these days), which is believed to have been used from  around 1948 to the early 1950s. It also has the bulbous black painted metal handles and thin plywood back, again believed to have been used on the earlier examples of court cupboard. It is a super example of this particular model. It has two opening doors, one on the lower cupboard and the other on the upper cupboard. Each door  and two upper side panels have the familiar pressed diamond pattern, and on the lower side panels are the familiar pressed “S” patterns. Along the top and down each side of the upper door is the “sausage and ball” beading found on some of the Barton Tudor furniture. This is in a good played with condition. Measures 4 1/4″ wide x 1 3/8″ deep x 4 5/8″ high.

This is a pretty  grey and white coloured speckled  plaster fireplace, with lit coal fire detail.
