About Barton

*A Barton & Co.(Toys) Ltd started trading officially in 1945, as soon as the war finished.

*The first official trademark of Bartons was an ink stamp of a diamond with the letter A B & Co. Then in 1949 this was replaced with a label for a time.

*Bartons flourished, using other suppliers for certain items eg.Barrett & Son metal items, Grecon Dolls, Kaybot plaster food.

*In 1975 the Caroline’s Home Range was brought out. By now the use of plastic was extensive.

*In 1984 Barton was bought out by Lundby Ltd.

All items on this page are 1/16th scale unless otherwise stated.

Vintage Barton Radiogram @ £4.95 SOLD

Here is a nice example of a Barton radiogram. It has a main wooden frame with four wooden legs, and the record deck detail in plastic, including the original “arm” of the record deck – which is refreshing to have as they are often missing. It is in a good played with condition, some wear to the exterior and there is a teeny manufacturer’s blob of glue stain right at the front of the record deck. Nice item. Measures 2 7/8″ wide x 7/8″ deep x 2″ high.

Here is an unopened Barton Caroline’s Home packet containing set of cutlery and from what I can tell, four plastic cups/saucers/plates, four plastic glasses and four plastic sundae glasses. As you can see from the photo, the top of the packet is torn, however the contents are still fully intact and completely unused.

Vintage Barton Pink Plaster Bathroom Suite @ £14.50

Here is a vintage pink plaster bathroom suite, still with original metal taps and lift up plastic toilet seat As you can see, there are a few chips in the plaster, mainly in three of the four corners of the bath and just one or two teeny minor nibbles around the toilet and sink. These plaster items would have been quite fragile in young hands so it is a miracle that any survived at all. This is quite a delightful set. Bath measures 4 1/4″ long x 1 1/2″ deep x 1 1/2″ high to top of taps. Sink stands at a height of 2 1/4″ to top of taps. Look measures a sitting height of 1 1/8″.

Vintage Barton Tudor Court Cupboard @ £18.00 SOLD

Here is a vintage wooden Barton court cupboard from the Tudor range, with two opening doors, one on the lower cupboard and the other on the upper cupboard. Each door has the original metal handle and the familiar pressed diamond pattern.  The two upper angled side panels have the pressed square pattern.  Also, either side of the upper door is the shaped beading found on some of the Barton Tudor furniture. This is in a relatively solid condition but it has been much played with so is showing some wear. Also at the bottom of the upper door there is a tiny splinter of wood. Measures 4 1/2″ wide x 1 5/8″ deep x just under 4 ” high.
