General

All items on this page are of various scales and include not only genuine antique and vintage items, but also KT Miniatures handmade vintage style miniatures too.  For ease I have given measurements and where possible also stated what scale I think the item is. Many old dolls houses do not conform and scale is a mismatch. In this case, my advice would be to forget about scale and simply fill your little abodes with what you like.

Antique Turned Wooden Decorated Vase & Flowers SOLD

This is exquisite, very pretty and quite versatile. It  is made from turned wood and dates from the late 1800s/early 1900s. It has a painted cream background with hand painted blue decoration.  There appears to very old imitation flowers in the vase, albeit a little squashed. Would suit a variety of settings and is in a good played with condition. Vase measures 1 ” high and flowers increase measurement to 1 3/4″ high.

Mixed Japanese Antique Curios  @ £10.50

If you are a fan of Japanese miniatures, then this little selection may interest you. They all came together with a c1920s dolls house collection so am assuming they are all from that era. There are four items in total – a wooden bottle with lovely leaf and vegetation design around the exterior measuring 1 7/8″ high, but please note that half of the top  rim is missing (as seen in pics above); an interesting larger scale wooden cup with red lines around the exterior plus a removable lid with a lovely moon image on the top, measuring 1 1/4″ high; a wooden turned plate with remnants of a green and red pattern, some damage with a nibble from rim , measuring 1 3/8″ in diameter; a china bowl/cup? with orange and green design around exterior, with some nibbles around the rim. Interesting set of antique curios!

Antique Embossed Decorative Metal Plate (Oriental?) @ £4.50 SOLD

This is an unusual decorative embossed/pressed metal plate. It came with a collection of c1920s dolls house items so am assuming that it will be around the same age. Looking at it closely I personally feel that the design has a slightly oriental feel about I cannot say definitvely. This is in a good played with condition, a little worn in places. Measures 2″ in diameter so quite large scale. Could be useful for hanging on the wall, dresser, etc.

Rare c1950s Metal Lawnmower@ £45.00

This is a rare and quite delightful painted metal lawnmower,  precise maker is unknown but interestingly it came with the deckchair seen below and the green paint used on both are an exact match, so  I suspect they were made by the same manufacturer.  We know that the lawnmower was brought out as part of a miniature garden series by a distributing company called B&S (no relation to Barrett & son) but the exact maker is unknown. It has been suggested to me that they may have been made by DCMT but I have not been able to substantiate this as yet. There is no makers mark on this lawnmower.  It is fully intact with the moveable grass box and moveable rollers. Overall this is in a good played with condition, some wear to the paintwork. When you push it along it all the rollers and cogs move in synchronisation….wonderful! Measures 2 1/2″ high x 4 1/4″ long x 1 1/4″ wide.

Possibly suitable for both 1/16th  and 1/12th scale dolls house

Rare c1950s Deckchair @ £18.00

This is a rare and quite delightful deckchair, precise maker is unknown but it came with the above lawnmower and  the green paint used on both are an exact match, so  I suspect they were made by the same manufacturer.  We know that the lawnmower was brought out as part of a miniature garden series by a distributing company called B&S (no relation to Barrett & son) but the exact maker is unknown. It has been suggested to me that they may have been made by DCMT but I have not been able to substantiate this as yet. There is no makers mark on this deckchair. The deckchair has a green painted metal frame and bright orange material seat which has been stapled to the frame. It erects beautifully and similarly collapses beautifully, just like a real deckchair. The material has a stain down the centre but other than that, it is in a relatively good played with condition. Measures just over 2 1/2″ in height when erected with a sitting height of 1 1/8″.

Possibly suitable for both 1/16th  and 1/12th scale dolls house

Five Vintage Large Scale Toy Store Kiddicraft Cans Plus Two Packets @ £18.00

I was in two minds whether to put these  under the Kitchen category but then decided that any KT Miniatures’ customers would most probably purchase them for an old miniature shop or store, hence they are under this category instead. Please note that they are large scale.

This set comprises of five miniature tins (tin lid and base plus cardboard main body),  made by Kiddicraft as follows: Batchelors Dwarf Processed Peas, Batchelors Bigga Processed Peas, Batchelors Cooked Butter Beans, Libbys Orange Juice, Libbys Grapefruit Juice. There are also two miniature cardboard packets made by Kiddicraft as follows: Stork Margarine, Fernleaf New Zealand Butter. These are believed to have originated around the 1950s, possibly early 1960s? All are in a relatively good played with condition, some wear. Please note, as seen in the photo, that the tin base is missing from the Libbys Grapefruit Juice can, all others are intact albeit a tad rusty. Each can measures 1 1/2″ high x 1 1/8″ in diameter,  so quite big. Each packet is the same dimension, measuring 1 3/8″ long x  7/8″ high x 3/8″ deep.

Vintage Kiddicraft Players Cigarette Packet & Mock Cigarettes  @ £9.95

Here is a vintage large scale mock Players cigarette packet complete with push-out insert and 20 mock cigarettes, believed to have been manufactured by Kiddicraft. The cigarettes are made from some sort of hard plastic. Handmade Vintage Style Camping Scene @ £67.00 (offers in the region of)

This is the 1/12th scale prototype of a camping scene that my workshop colleague Robin Britton and I created last year for the  Dolls House & Miniatures Scene Magazine as a “how to make project”.  A series of instructions appeared over consecutive issues, starting in the May 2015 issue (No 252). It is now surplus to requirements and really must go. Please note that this can be posted but due to its construction it is rather fragile so if you would prefer to collect in person from me here in Thame you are very welcome to, at a mutually convenient time.

This versatile scene had been inspired by books from our childhood such as ‘Swallows & Amazons’ and ‘The Famous Five’ but could be used in a variety of ways.

The base is made from MDF and we used a variety of ordinary household and natural materials to create this landscaped scene, tent and accessories. The old fashioned aged white canvas tent was based on an illustration found in a c1939 Army & Navy Stores Handbook, and was made from the leg of a pair of old M&S trousers! There is a campfire and various accessories consisting of a handmade  can of baked beans, a vintage Dol-Toi saucepan filled with our miniature baked beans, a handmade aged white billycan and two vintage Dol-Toi metal plates. At the back of the scene is a uniquely made hedge and impromptu washing line with a pair of socks hanging down. Inside the tent there are two rather old fashioned beige sleeping bags.   There is also a tiny candle in a jar attached to a tall stick standing guard in front of an enormous “tree trunk”.  All items are completely fixed apart from the campfire accessories.

Of course this scene could be butted up against an old dolls house, but it would make an ideal backdrop for a scouting or guiding scene, or perhaps a vintage childhood scene to stage some old dolls, or how about a miniature teddy bears picnic? You could add additional bits and pieces to this scene and adapt it to suit. With Christmas coming up this could be a perfect present for someone or why not treat yourself? This has been displayed at various events over several months and since the last one earlier this year it has been stored in a box. Hence it has been well travelled and after one fraught journey, I randomly discovered that the tent could be gently plumped up and back into a nice shape from the inside using the handle of my hairbrush very gently. But now it is time to bid farewell to this little scene and we would really like it to go to a good home. Perhaps even a club may wish to purchase for a club project? Serious offers in the region of the quoted price considered.

The base measures 12″ x 12″ and the tent stands at a height of 3 3/4″.

Antique Decorative Metal Vase @ £6.95

This is a curious item indeed. I have no idea of age or origin, so all I can do is describe as seen.

Here is a quite chunky decorative metal large scale vase, very old – maybe even late 1800s. It is in a well played with and quite tarnished condition, but still quite charming. The inside rim appears quite rough. It stands at a height of 1 3/4″.
