Susan Dumper was a highly regarded doll artisan who sold her dolls through the famous Singing Tree Dolls House Shop in London. She is also known for making the dolls that reside in the old Pembroke Palace Dolls House at Wilton House (Wiltshire). She used antique dolls to make her moulds and created them in her own distinctive style, they are highly collectable.
This gorgeous little doll was put together by previous owner in the 1980s and consists of an antique bisque doll head and torso, plus two arms and legs made by Susan Dumper to replace original missing limbs. Her little brown/black boot detail have been painted in a very distinct style that Susan Dumper was known for. Her hair has been cleverly created out of brown embroidery silk. She has stunning artisan hand knitted blue sailor style dress with mustard coloured trim and tiny button at the back, matching beret, and white knitted bloomers. How lovely to think that this doll had been rescued with so much love and care and made into something so beautiful. She measures 3 ½” high.
