c1930s Taylor & Barrett Gas Cooker @ £39.50SOLD
Here is an all metal gas cooker made by Taylor & Barrett in the 1930s. It has the upper metal plate rack, gas hob top, opening oven door and even the tin hook on the right hand side, which is so often snapped off (very useful for hanging tea towel or oven gloves)! This comes in a painted cream/tan finish with a metal coloured door and hob top. The plate rack is painted black.
Overall this is in a relatively good played with condition, however I think the main body has been repainted at some point, I think the original colour would have been a slightly lighter cream paint but the added benefit is that the paintwork is in good condition. The black painted plate rack has some paint loss, plus a previous owner has fixed a pice of cardboard in the base of the oven, the manufacturer oddly made this with a large hole in the oven floor. The top right hook for the plate rack has a teeny end bit missing, however the plate rack still sits nicely in place, and I think this can be forgiven seeing that it is 90 years old! It measures 3 3/4” high x 2” wide x 1 ½” deep x 2 ¼” hob top height.
