c1930s Taylor & Barrett Metal Gas Cooker @ £38.00SOLD

This is a lovely 1930s metal gas cooker made by Taylor & Barrett, in original off white finish. The oven door opens and inside the previous owner has cleverly placed loosely (so it can be removed easily if unwanted) a square of metal mesh to sit across the bottom of the oven to cover the manufacturer’s  square hole in the base. There is an upper black painted plate rack, plus a metal hob top with moulded detail, including two red painted gas rings. Under the hob is a grill space.  On the back it has the embossed words MADE IN ENGLAND T&B. It is nice to see that the little hook on the right-hand side of the hob is still there, useful for a miniature tea towel or oven gloves…this was often snapped off. Overall, this is in a relatively good condition, certainly well played with, as there is some wear, plus around the hob top there is some age related tarnishing.  Still, for something that is around 90 years old, I think any aging can be forgiven! It measures 2” wide x 1 ½” deep x 3 7/8” back height x 2 ¼” hob height. Nice item.
