c1985 Susan Dumper Bisque Antique Style Mignonette Doll With Blonde Hair SOLD
Susan Dumper was a highly regarded doll artisan who sold her dolls through the famous Singing Tree Dolls House Shop in London. She is also known for making the dolls that reside in the old Pembroke Palace Dolls House at Wilton House (Wiltshire). She used antique dolls to make her moulds and created them in her own distinctive style, they are highly collectable. I am told that her bisque mignonettes have once or twice been wrongly mistaken for being antique by previous owner. Susan signed and dated her dolls on the back of the hair line, which are mostly hidden under the hair, but the date can usually be seen.
Here is a gorgeous all bisque mignonette doll by Susan Dumper and dated ’85 on the back of her hair line. She has moveable limbs, and a swivel head. Like all of Susan’s dolls, she has glass eyes, and her facial features are lovely. Her long blonde crimped hair is beautifully styled. She has tiny bead earrings dangling from her ears. Her little brown/black laced up boots detail have been painted in a very distinct style that Susan Dumper was known for. Her gorgeous vintage style dress and knitted knickers have been artisan made, and truly add to this doll’s beauty. Overall, she is in an excellent pre-loved condition. She stands at a height of 5”.
