Early Jill Bennett Sitting Female Doll In Period Costume @ £125.00RESERVED
The following doll belonged to a well-known and distinguished personality within the doll’s house world, and was part of their amazing personal dolls house and miniatures collection. The owner has sadly passed away and it is with reluctance the family are selling. I am on a promise to find good homes for all the wonderful items.
This is a beautiful early Jill Bennett doll, who was a highly renowned artisan dollmaker, but who is sadly is no longer with us.
The doll is in a sitting position, and really is extremely heavy! The female doll has a porcelain head with lovely painted features, a pewter body and beautifully dressed, as all Jill Bennett’s dolls were. She is beautifully wigged too. Her gorgeous blouse is high-necked with lace and she has a delicately striped long skirt. Her underclothes consist of a cotton lace edged petticoat and bloomers. The blouse, back of skirt and her hair have pretty bow embellishments. She has tan coloured painted shoe detail. Overall, she is in a good used condition, there is a faint brown stain on the inside back edge of the skirt and teeny speck on the back of the skirt, plus the same faint brown stain on the left sleeve at the top and halfway down the sleeve. There is also a teeny bit of paint loss on some fingers. But this is hardly noticeable and most certainly not detrimental to the whole piece. She is in 1/12th scale.
