Mid 1920s “Handicrafts” Wooden Screen @ £21.00SOLD
This stunning fretwork/scrollwork wooden screen would have been made from the “Handicraft” Plans – Design No.5276. Seen in photos are two images I have taken from my own 1929 Handicrafts Annual, which shows this very same wooden screen. The heart and flower pattern is so very pretty, it truly is beautiful and has been skilfully made. It is in a good played with condition, there is a little red scuffing on one of the hearts, plus there are some tiny surface cracks amongst the shaped cut design pieces which would have been made during the fretwork construction, however refreshingly all the weeny nails & hinges are fully intact. However, as this is practically one hundred years old, I think any wear can be forgiven and it’s amazing it has survived at all! It looks like at some point in its life this was sold for three shillings as there is a tiny 3/- pencil mark on a top corner. Measures 5 ¾” wide x 4 5/8” high. The previous owner cherished this, so I hope someone out there can give it a good home.
