Quirky Pre-loved Homemade Walking Stick/Umbrella Stand @ £13.50
I like quirky things, and this is most definitely a little on the quirky side!
Here is a lovely and unusual homemade walking stick/umbrella stand, along with two walking sticks. I have been trying to figure out what the stand has been made from, and am of the conclusion that it is either clay or possibly something like Fimo? Then the exterior looks like it has been hand painted/drawn on in either blue ink or paint, then heavily varnished. The drawing is actually quite good, albeit a little naïve. The sticks look like they are part wood and have been given some kind of coating, and then overpainted in brown? I have no idea the age or who it was made from, the only information from previous owner was that it was made by a previous owner to her, so she described it as being homemade. Certainly, it is not perfectly cylindrical, but it could look rather splendid and add character to the hall of an old dolls house. The varnish has slightly discoloured with age which gives this an older look. The stand measures just under 1 ½” high x 5/8” diameter. Each stick measures approx. 2 ½” long.
