Unusual c1930s Fairylite Tea Set (only six pieces – missing lid & cup) @ £8.50 SOLD
1/2Here is an extremely unusual tea set, possibly porcelain, comprising of a sugar bowl, jug, teapot missing its lid, two saucers and only one teacup. The design is very much Japanese in style, in fact the teapot is marked FAIRYLITE FOREIGN and all other pieces are marked FOREIGN. This set is believed to have been made in the 1930s by Fairylite, who imported Japanese dolls house and doll items under their brand name. Each piece, with the exception of the two saucers, has a knobbly textured orange painted exterior with a green painted leaf design. Reminds me of a blackberry to be honest but orange! The two saucers are a bit more crudely made, with an orange centre and imprinted painted leaf rims. *Please note, these are quite large in scale and more doll size, rather than for a dolls house but could possibly suit an old dolls house where scale does not matter. To give an indication on size, the teapot measures 1 1/4″ high x 2 1/2″ from end of handle to tip of spout. Saucers measure 1 3/8″ in diameter. Cup measures 7/8″ high. Sugar bowl and jug each measure 1″ high.
