Living And Dining Room

All items on this page are of various scales and include not only genuine antique and vintage items, but also may include KT Miniatures handmade vintage style miniatures too.  For ease I have given measurements and where possible also stated what scale I think the item is. Many old dolls houses do not conform and scale is a mismatch. In this case, my advice would be to forget about scale and simply fill your little abodes with what you like.

c1920s-30s Upholstered Fireside Chair @ £15.00 RESERVED

This is a sweet little chair, believed to be pre-war from the 1920s/30s, as it belonged to previous owner’s mother. I do not know whether it has been homemade or commercially produced but it has been well made.  The wooden frame is darkly stained plus the upholstery appears to be a brown velvet type material. It is in a good played with condition and I don’t think the photos do this justice. Sitting height 1 1/2″ x back height 4″ x 2 1/2″ wide x 2″ deep.

1930s Cartwright “Gwenda” Set Of Three Metal Chairs & Table @ £16.00

Here is  a little set of three pink painted metal chairs and table. They are believed to have been made by Cartwright under the “Gwenda” label. Very Art Deco in design, they are quite delightful.  Overall these are in a good played with condition, the paintwork is just showing some wear and the metal table top is a little dented. However I think these little treasures can be forgiven as they are well over 80 years old! Table measures 1 7/8″ high x 2 3/8″ wide x 2 3/8″ deep. Each chair measures 1 1/4″ sitting height x 1 3/8″ wide x 1 1/2″ deep x 2 3/4″ back height.

Suitable for 1/12th scale and possibly 1/16th scale, or old dolls house where scale does not matter

Antique Wooden China Cabinet – c1922-1934 Hobbies Design SOLD

Here is a charming very old wooden china cabinet with original glass and the design is recognisable as one that was available from Hobbies plans throughout1922 to 1934.  So this would have been homemade. This really is lovely and will look absolutely fantastic laden with china, ornaments or glassware. The fretwork frontage is fixed and is very attractive. The original fretwork start and end cuts are visible. There is a useful lower shelf, so too the top of the cabinet could also be useful to display further items. The back is left open. Am not sure if there was meant to be as this gives you access to the interior. There is an exposed nail either side at the back, right at the bottom of the main shelf….am wondering if these were there for you to slot over some card backing or something? Overall this is in a good played with condition. There is a teeny notch of wood missing off the front right foot, so too at the far left end of the top decorative plinth. This is a lovely item and one of those pieces that I feel difficult to let go but go it must as I have  no more room in any of my little abodes! Measures 4 3/4″ at widest point x 1 1/2″ deep x 5 3/4″ to highest point.

Antique Wooden Piano – c1922-1934 Hobbies Design @ £10.50 RESERVED

Here is a charming very old wooden piano, obviously homemade, and the design is recognisable as one that was available from Hobbies plans throughout1922 to 1934.  It has an attractive two toned stained finish. The fretwork panel above the lid has been crudely cut out and you can see the cut where the maker  started. I love it – it is little touches like this that give an old treasure character! The lid lifts up to reveal the original paper keys, which is slightly torn on the left end. And although a weeny curved edge has broken off the right side of the keyboard edge, and the top of the piano is coming away on the left hand side, plus there is visible white glue residue around each end of the keyboard…this is still rather lovely.  Measures 4 1/2″ wide x 2 1/2″ at deepest point x 4 1/2″ high.

c1890s German Chair & Stool @ £14.00 RESERVED

This German wooden chair and matching stool are  believed to originate from around the 1890s all upholstered in original blue material. The  chair still has the braided edging and fringing, plus wooden legs. The stool has the original fringing.   Overall these are in a relatively good played with condition, some wear to the wood and upholstery, most noticebly the fringing is a little threadbare. The stool has a tiny residue of paper stuck to the inside of one leg which is a bit odd, but not noticeable. The chair measurs 2″ wide x 1 3/4″ deep x 3 1/2″ back height x 1 1/2″ sitting height. The stool measures 1 3/4″ wide x 1 1/2″ deep x 1 3/8″ sitting height.

Unusual Vintage Quirky Two Chair & Stool Set @ £8.95

Here is a quite unusual and quirky wooden chair set, consisting of an occasional chair,  a rocking chair and stool, all in a pale blue paint wash. There is a very distinctive Japanese feel to these, the way the legs have been shaped, so I assume the set originates from Japan. They are believed to date from the 1930s. It is hard to determine the scale of this set as it seems to be a mixture. The occasional chair measures 1 1/2″ sitting height x 1 1/8″ wide x 3 1/4″ back height. The rocking chair measures 1 1/8″ sitting height x 1 1/8″ width x 2 3/4″ back height. The stool measures 1 14″ sitting height x 1 1/8″ wide.

UPDATE: Thank you to the customer who told me that she had a similar set as a child and that there were several pieces of furniture that all slotted together to make a puzzle block, very much like a  very fat jigsaw.

Vintage Chunky Green Wooden Armchairs @ £4.50

Here are two useful vintage green painted wooden armchairs, quite chunky in scale. Exact age and origin unknown, probably  homemade. They have been made out of a piece of wood that has a slight curve on it. Overall these are in a reasonably good well played with condition, there is some wear to the green paint and looks like one of the arms which has a crack across has been repaired. Plus a child has written in pencil on one seat the initials AH.  Each chair measures 3 1/2″ at widest point ie. base x 2 1/4″ deep x 2 1/8″ back height x 1″ sitting height. These could be useful to someone with an old house where scale does not matter and at a bargain price too.

These do not conform to any particular scale so suitable for old dolls house where scale does not matter

c1920s/30s Japanese Wooden  Inlaid Seat @ £11.50

This rather curious seat is Japanese from the 1920s/30s era. The lid and front are inlaid with strips of different coloured wood. The lift up seat does lift, however please note that it is incredibly stiff to move. Overall this is in a good played with condition, a little wear here and there. A useful unusual old seat for either an old or indeed a new dolls house. Measures just under 4 1/2″ back height x 1 1/4″ sitting height x 2 1/2″ at widest point x 2″ deep.

c1950s FGT & Sons Metal Coal Fire Insert @ £16.00

This is one of the more unusual FGT items that doesn’t come along quite so often these days. It is a metal interior fire insert with lit coal fire detail, complete with old fashioned green tiled effect. It has been designed to fit up against a fire surround. A simple fire surround (if you don’t have one) could be made from offcuts of wooden beading to fit around this, plus a longer flat piece for the mantel? This fire insert is in a good played with condition, just a little paint loss. Measures 2 1/4″ across the base x 2 3/8″ to top of arch. Lovely item.

Suitable for 1/16th scale and possibly 1/12th scale

Vintage FGT Gas Fire @ £28.00

This is a lovely mottled dark brown/ copper/black painted colour, post war gas fire-marked FGT & Sons. It is exactly the same as the T&B pre-war version – made from the same mould. In a relatively good played with condition, a little wear to the paintwork.  Measures 2 3/8″ high x 1 1/2″ wide.

Suitable For Both 1/16th Scale & 1/12th Scale Dolls House

Handmade KT Miniatures Replica c1910 German Style Wooden Fireplace @ £32.00

This is a replica of my actual c1910 German fireplace that I have had in my own collection for years and because I had never been able to find another like it but wanted another one…I decided to replicate the original! I was so chuffed to bits with the results that since then,  although extremely time consuming to create, I have made  some more.

This fireplace  is made from a variety of materials, but mainly wood, printed card and paint! It is finished in a dark wood acrylic colour with a polished finish. The tile is a scanned image of original and the hearth also.

Overal dimension – height 3 1/2″ x 3″ width x 1 1/4″ depth.

Suitable for both 1/12th and 1/16th scale dolls house

Old German Chair & Matching Stool @ £10.95

Here is a delightful white painted wooden chair with attractive checked material upholstery and a matching stool. These are believed to be of German origin from the 1920s -1930s. The chair back has been repaired at some point and has been fixed with a slight lean inwards which gives this a real quirky air to it!  Also underneath there appears to be a hint of two nails which presumably are there to keep the upholstered pad on, plus you can see a pale green colour so am wondering if this has been repainted at some point in its long life, and was in fact originally pale green? The stool also wooden and with the same upholstery, also has a definite set of leaning legs slightly inwards on one side. So I guess we could describe these as being in a good well played with condition. Chair measures sitting height 1 5/8″ x overall back height 3 1/4″ x 2 1/4″ width x 1 3/4″ depth. Stoll has sitting height of 1 3/4″ x 2 1/4″ width x 1 1/2″ depth.  I do hope someone can give these a good home, the photos just doesn’t do them justice.

Old German Sideboard Large Scale (some damage to hinge) @ £8.50

Here is a large scale wooden German sideboard, with lovely two tone finish on the front exterior. The two doors at the front open and the feet are a curious curved shape. Overall this has a very Art Deco feel to it and am assuming that this is from the 1930s. Please note that the tiny pin hinge at the top of the left door is exposed  as a tiny splinter has come away, but I have tried it a few times and it seems to stay intact on opening, however the price reflects this and has been reduced accordingly. This is most definitely larger than your ordinary 1/12th scale so please check the measurements before ordering. Measures 5 7/8″ wide x 2 1/4″ deep x 3 3/4″ total back height x 3 1/4″ worktop height.

Two Vintage Large Scale Quirky Chairs @ £4.50

Here is a pair of rather odd and quirky large scale chairs. Previous owner  told me that hese had been handmade in the early 1900s and apparently used to sit in  a German miniature shop for many years. If you are looking for large scale chairs that are a little bit different and fun, then these may be just right for you. The chairbacks each have a fretsaw cut back and  uniquely each have been cut from one block of wood. In a wonderful whacky way, you can see from the photos that the sitting seat parts slope forwards like a slide….haha! Each chair has a front sitting height of 1 1/2″ and a back sitting height (is not often I can say that)  of 1 3/4″. Overall back height of both is 4 1/2″.  Width of one chair is 2 3/8″, whereas the width of other chair is  2 1/4″. The colour is rather interesting….is a kind of hazel colour with a terracotta colour edging all the way around all cut edges, which makes them even more interesting!  They are in a well played with condition.

Scale is all over the place with these so I would say that these would either suit a large scale dolls house or old dolls house where scale does not matter.

Pair Of Early 1900s German Single Chairs @ £10.00

Here is a pair of square shaped early 1900s German wooden chairs with material covered seats and top curved material covered edges. Although these have been quite crudely made, they have a certain charm. In a good played with condition, just a little wear and some minor fabric fraying. Measures 2 3/6″ high x 2 5/6″ deep and wide each.

cLate 1800s/Early 1900s Brass Fireplace @ £28.00 SOLD

This is believed to be a late Victorian/circa early 1900s solid brass fireplace. It is in a good well played with condition – just a little tarnishing and one or two minor knocks but nothing too detrimental. The mantlepiece on the left hand side has just begun to work a little loose but once this is in situ, will be be irrelevant. It is a charming piece and would look fantastic in an old dolls house. Measures 5″ at widest point (ie. mantelpiece) x just under 4″ high.

Antique Glass Fruit Bowl With Handle @ £29.00

Here is a lovely decorative purple antique glass fruit bowl with twisted blue glass handle and original fruit. The fruit are fixed into the bowl (apart from one which has come adrift ) and am not entirely sure what they are made of, but perhaps dried pips of some sort? But each have an outer coloured textured coating which have split and in some cases, have come right away leaving the inner exposed? But this just adds to the character of the piece. The basket itself is in good played with condition. Measures 2 1/4″ high so quite large, therefore would suit antique dolls house where scale does not matter or a large scale dolls house.

c1930s Vintage Raffia Table @ £13.00

This is believed to be a pre-war little table, with legs wrapped in raffia. The table top has the original 1930s material and is edged in raffia. Underneath there is a kind of lower raffia shelf. This is delightful and quite unusual. In a good played with condition. Measures 1 7/8″ x 1 7/8″ x 1 5/8″ high.

Suitable For 1/12th or 1/16th Scale

Unusual Small Vintage Sideboard @ £4.50

This is a a very old and unusual homemade sideboard, with mock door front that has two metal handles. The door has been given a slanted appearance and has a bit of an Art Deco feel to it. Useful little item for the 1/16th scale dolls house. In a good played with condition. Measures 3 1/4″ long x2″ high.
