Living And Dining Room

All items on this page are of various scales and include not only genuine antique and vintage items, but also may include KT Miniatures handmade vintage style miniatures too.  For ease I have given measurements and where possible also stated what scale I think the item is. Many old dolls houses do not conform and scale is a mismatch. In this case, my advice would be to forget about scale and simply fill your little abodes with what you like.

Rare Antique Soft Metal  Decorative Chair With Remnants Of Original Silk(?) Seat Pad @ £45.00 SOLD

This is very old – possibly late 1800s or early 1900s. I am assuming that this is of German origin, but it has also been suggested to me that it could possibly be French. I am sorry, but I just do not know. I have scoured the piece but cannot find any kind of makers mark at all. But it is absolutely delightful, even if the silk(?)cushion is almost completely threadbare, as seen in the photo. It looks like it would have had a gilt finish originally, as you can see remnants of it here and there. The decorative legs are just lovely and fully intact. The swirling decorative back is quite lovely, although I have just noticed that the back top bar that joins onto the top of the right side bar has come adrift. I would leave well alone if it was me, as it is not noticeable.  I do hope this chair can go to a good home – the photos just don’t do it justice! Measures 1 3/4″ wide x 2″ overall depth x 2 3/8″ back height x 1 3/8″ sitting height to top of seat pad. Gorgeous and rare piece! NB. I do have another of these chairs but it has lost a leg…so I am currently scratching my head wondering if I could do something arty with it? But if anyone is interested…then feel free to get in touch.

Antique German Biedermeier Style Sideboard (missing handle) @ £35.00 SOLD

Here is an increasingly hard to find attractive German wooden sideboard with decorative mirror top.   Very much in the Biedermeier style with lithographed paper imitating wood. Believed to be late 1800s, early 1900s. All original with heavily tarnished mirror which is kept in place by the original blue paper on the back. The door opens. Overall this is relatively good played with condition, is missing handle which wood have been metal. However, seeing this is well over 100 years old I think it can be forgiven. A useful piece for the antique dolls house. Measures 2 3/4″ wide x 4 1/4″ high x 1 1/4″ deep.

Suitable for both 1/12th and 1/16th scale dolls house.

c1930s Charbens Bureau/Bookcase @ £22.00 SOLD

Here is a c1930s metal Charbens bureau with bookcase, rarely do they come along these days and this is only the second one I have handled. The moulded painted detail shows the silver painted mock bookcase upper, and two mock drawers on the lower half, plus of course the mock bureau frontage. When I use the word “mock”, I mean of course that none of the doors or drawers open at all but have been created as an illusion only. This particular example has a slight dent and tiny hole in the bureau frontage, as shown in the photos…but  it is amazing that it survived at all, as I am increasingly finding some of the Charbens metal furniture suffering from fatigue, in the same way as the Dinky Dolly Varden metal furniture of the same era. The back on this  has a gaping hole and you can see the inside. So overall, this is in a heavily aged played with condition,  with some metal fatigue damage as stated above. Measures 3 3/4″ high x 1 5/8″ wide x 1 3/8″ deep.

Suitable for 1/16th scale dolls house

c1930s Charbens Piano @ £21.00 SOLD

Here is an increasingly hard to find c1930s Charbens dark brown painted metal piano, fully intact and in a good played with condition. There is noticeable wear to the paintwork but it is so refreshing to have this with both foot pedals and side supporting bars, as they are so often snapped off. Measures 3 3/8″ wide 1″ deep x 2 1/4″ high.

c1930s Charbens Dining Table @ £16.00 SOLD

Here is an increasingly hard to find c1930s  Charbens dark brown painted metal dining table. It is in a heavily aged played with condition and there are two tiny holes in the table top, one slightly bigger than the other, probably due to metal fatigue. However seeing as it is over 80 years old I think it can be forgiven and could appeal to those of you who like me, are passionate about the 1930s era! The table top clips into the frame. Measures 2″ long x 1 5/8″ deep x 1 3/4″ high.

c1950s Crescent Yellow Painted Metal Tub Chair @ £11.50

This is a sweet little yellow painted metal chair manufactured by Crescent.  In a good played with condition, a little paint loss. Could be useful to someone. Measures 1″ wide x 1 3/8″ high x 7/8″ deep x 3/4″ sitting height.

Pair Of Vintage Armchairs With Red Material @ £6.00 SOLD

Here is a vintage pair of dark stained wooden armchairs with jazzy red patterned material which appear to be original to the chairs. Maker and age unknown, came with a mixed bunch of old dolls house furniture spanning several eras. However they are well made so suspect they have been commercially produced. Overall they are in a good played with condition, some wear plus there is a glue mark across one side of a chair, as seen in a photo above. Useful chairs for someone, they are quite sweet. Each chair has a sitting height of 3/4″ x 1 5/8″ back height x 1 3/4″ width x 1 3/8″ depth.

Pair Of Vintage Faded Pink & Gold Edged Chairs @ £5.50

Here is a pair of what is believed to be homemade wooden chairs painted in dusky faded pink paint and edged in gold paint. One is an armchair and the other is a dining chair. Both are a little crudely made but could be useful for someone. The are in a reasonable played with condition. The two front legs of the dining chair are just very slightly wonky, but gives it extra charm. The armchair measures 2″ wide x 1 3/4″ deep x 2 1/2″ high x7/8″ sitting height. The dining chair measures sitting height 1 5/8″ x back height 3″ x width  1 3/8″ x depth 1 1/2″.

Vintage Speckled Blue Plaster Fireplace – Maker Unknown @ £16.00

Here is a lovely and very pretty pale blue and dark speckled blue plaster fireplace, with lit coal fire detail. Maker and exact age unknown…very similar to the Barton fireplaces but this particular design was not known to have been sold by Barton. There is a small nibble  to the far left edge of the mantelpiece as seen in the photos, plus one or two weeny nibbles to the mantelpiece edges but nothing major, and I would describe this as being in a good played with condition. Measures 2 7/8″ wide x 1 1/4″ deep x 2 5/8″ high. Would suit a 1930s – 1960s style  dolls house. Nice item.

Here is a lovely and very pretty pale green and dark speckled green plaster fireplace, with lit coal fire detail. Maker and exact age unknown…very similar to the Barton fireplaces but this particular design was not known to have been sold by Barton. There are some small nibbles  to one or two edges e as seen in the photos, plus some scuffing to the colour on the front hearth edge but nothing major, and I would describe this as being in a good played with condition. Measures 2 5/8″ wide x 1 ” deep x 2 1/2″ high. Would suit a 1930s – 1960s style  dolls house. Nice item.

Vintage Small 1/24th Scale Kleeware Plastic Dining Room 8 Piece Set @ £14.00

Here is an all red plastic vintage c1950s Kleeware dining room set in 1/24th scale.  This is an eight piece set consisting of a dining table and four chairs, dresser, sideboard and corner dresser.  All pieces are in a good played with condition, some wear. To give an indication of size, the table measures 2 1/2″ long x 1 5/8″ wide x 1″ high. Each chair has a sitting height  of 3/4″. The corner dresser stands at a height of 2 3/4″, the dresser stands at a height of 2 1/2″ and the sideboard stands at a height of 1 1/4″. Nice set

Vintage Wooden German Sideboard @ £14.00

Here is a wooden German vintage sideboard in a dark stained finish. The door has been created to give the illusion that there are two doors, but very much in the German style, this opens just as one large door. There are two tiny nail handles. Overall this is in a good played with condition, some wear to the exterior. Measures 4″ wide x 1 1/4″ deep x 2 7/8″ high to the top of the back plinth.  A useful little item for many old dolls houses and could actually be used in a variety of rooms of the dolls house.

Suitable for 1/12th scale dolls house

Vintage Wooden Art Deco Fireplace @ £19.50

Here is a rather lovely old wooden fireplace in an Art Deco style, with a sponge painted speckled paint effect finish. There is a cleverly painted wooden lit fire effect on a triangular piece of wood, and it works really well. I do not definitely know if this is 1930s or 1950s or who he manufacturer is,  but it has a kind of a 1930s “Tiny Toy” feel to it? Overall it is in a good played with condition. Measures  3 3/8″ wide x 1 1/4 deep x 3″ high.

Suitable for 1/12th scale and possibly 1/16th scale dolls house

Vintage Wooden Fire Screen @ £16.50

I love this, it is so unusual and quite striking. I have no idea of date or origin. There are three wooden sections , each with a carved beveled panel . It comes in a dark varnished finish and on the back there are two strips of leather fixed right across to act as hinges. The leather strips have been rather clumsily made, and have been fixed a little tight restricting the way that the two side panels splay out. I find this quite surprising since someone has gone to so much trouble to beautifully carve the wood. So I am wondering if the leather hinges are later additions? Although this fire screen stands nicely, it could benefit with new looser pieces of leather.  Overall in a good played with condition. Measures 2 1/4″ high x 3 1/8″ overall width. Lovely item!

c1930s German Tan Wooden Piano @ £4.50

Here is a sweet tan stained wooden piano with original paper keys, and although quite crudely made there is something quite delightful about it. In good played with condition, a slight water stain on the far right of the paper keys. Measures 3 1/4″ wide x 2 3/4″ high x 1 1/4″ deep.

 c1930s German Veneer Wooden Piano @ £4.50

Here is a delightful small scale c1930s German wooden piano, suitable for 1/16th scale. It appears to have a mock wooden imitation kind of veneer on the frontage. Original paper keys. Quite a sweet little thing. In good played with condition, some wear. Measures 3 5/8″ wide x 1 1/4″ deep x 2 7/8″ high.

c1930s German Wooden Hexagonal Table @ £4.50

Here is a useful small wooden German table from the 1930s, with a hexagonal shaped table top that sits on top of a central plinth. Overall this is in a good played with condition, some wear to the table top, as seen in the photo. Could be useful as a dining table in a 1/16th scale dolls house or a small coffee/occasional table in a 1/12th scale dolls house. Measures 3 1/4″ wide x 1 3/4″ high.

Ref: German Hexagonal Table

Suitable for 1/16th scale as a dining table or 1/12th scale as a coffee table

Vintage Round Wooden Coffee Table @ £5.50

Here is a useful white painted wooden coffee table. Age and origin unknown but came with an assortment of furniture from the 1930s – 1950s, so I have to assume this is of the same era. It has a price of 3d written underneath. As you can see, this is in a well played with condition, much wear and the legs have been fixed in a realigned position. But nevertheless this could be useful to someone. With a cloth over the top or nice vintage plant or vase, would finish this off nicely.  Measures 2″ high x 2 5/8″ diameter.

Ref: White Round Coffee Table

Suitable for 1/12th scale (or possibly dining table for 1/16th scale?)

Vintage Wooden Sideboard @ £14.00

This is a vintage dark stained wooden sideboard, am assuming it was homemade from plans? There is a pencil mark on inside of both doors which are most probably the piece numbers. This has a 1930s-1950s look to it. Both doors open and have tiny screws as handles, and the feet are decorative beads. Now overall this is in a good played with condition, but the front right foot lifts slightly off the floor, as it appears that the nail with the bead has been pushed in further than all the others.   A bit of a fiddle, but the new owner could possibly try pulling the nail out a bit to adjust the height, if possible. Or, as we used to do in our old real life size family home when growing up….you could shove a miniature book underneath perhaps, to even the height out? Measures 5 1/4″ wide x 1 3/4″ deep x 3 1/4″ back height x 3″ sideboard worktop height.

Vintage Green Cane Chair Large Scale @ £8.00

Here is a vintage large scale woven cane chair that has been painted in an attractive dark green. The origin and exact age unknown. This is in a good played with condition. Measures sitting height 1 1/2″ x back height 4″ x base depth 3 3/4″. So quite large in scale.

Two Vintage Blue Wooden Chairs @ £8.95

Here are two rather lovely pale blue wooden chairs. These came with a group of late 1940s/early 1950s dolls house furniture so am assuming these are from the same era. Maker unknown. They are rather elgant looking in shape and could be useful for an old dolls house. They are in a good played with condition, a little worn and some marks. Each chair measurs 2″ sitting height x 4″ back height x 1 1/2″ wide x 1 1/2″ deep. The scale is a bit all over the place with these chairs.

c1930s (?) Antique Art Deco Style  Fireplace With Old Bulb @ £19.50

This old fireplace does remind me of some similar 1930s fireplaces very much with a hint of an Art Deco feel in the design that I have occasionally  seen over the years , but one difference is that I have never seen one of these with a bulb in the grate and a lift up door at the back for a battery to fit in. As I have been trading for 21 years I would say that would make this rather rare?  I am assuming that the little slit above the fire opening was for a metal lever  switch. There was obviously something glued around the bulb at one time as you can see some sort of residue, which I assume was crumpled red cellophane/ tissue paper or some sort of coal detail?  The wooden surround has attractive added embellishments of three green wood strips, which gives this a real Art Deco appearance. This is a delightful and intriguing fireplace. Apart from the points mentioned above, this is in a reasonably good condition, some wear.  Measures 4″ wide x 2 1/4″ at deepest point x 3 1/8″ high.

Suitable for 1/12th scale or possibly 1/16th scale

Vintage Chunky Wooden Dining Table @ £5.00

This varnished wooden table I suspect has been homemade. It does not have legs as such but two pieces of curved wood as supports. Have no idea of age or origin, came with a mixed bunch of antique and vintage dolls house items.  It does have a certain charm about it and could be a useful addition to an old dolls house. Overall this is in a good played with condition. Please note that the scale of this item does not conform. Measures 2″ high x 5 3/8″ long x 2 1/2″ wide.

Old German Sideboard Large Scale (some damage to hinge) @ £7.50

Here is a large scale wooden German sideboard, with lovely two tone finish on the front exterior. The two doors at the front open and the feet are a curious curved shape. Overall this has a very Art Deco feel to it and am assuming that this is from the 1930s. Please note that the tiny pin hinge at the top of the left door is exposed  as a tiny splinter has come away, but I have tried it a few times and it seems to stay intact on opening, however the price reflects this and has been reduced accordingly. This is most definitely larger than your ordinary 1/12th scale so please check the measurements before ordering. Measures 5 7/8″ wide x 2 1/4″ deep x 3 3/4″ total back height x 3 1/4″ worktop height.

Two Vintage Large Scale Quirky Chairs @ £4.50

Here is a pair of rather odd and quirky large scale chairs. Previous owner  told me that hese had been handmade in the early 1900s and apparently used to sit in  a German miniature shop for many years. If you are looking for large scale chairs that are a little bit different and fun, then these may be just right for you. The chairbacks each have a fretsaw cut back and  uniquely each have been cut from one block of wood. In a wonderful whacky way, you can see from the photos that the sitting seat parts slope forwards like a slide….haha! Each chair has a front sitting height of 1 1/2″ and a back sitting height (is not often I can say that)  of 1 3/4″. Overall back height of both is 4 1/2″.  Width of one chair is 2 3/8″, whereas the width of other chair is  2 1/4″. The colour is rather interesting….is a kind of hazel colour with a terracotta colour edging all the way around all cut edges, which makes them even more interesting!  They are in a well played with condition.

Ref: Two Large Scale Chairs

Scale is all over the place with these so I would say that these would either suit a large scale dolls house or old dolls house where scale does not matter.

Pair Of Early 1900s German Single Chairs @ £10.00

Here is a pair of square shaped early 1900s German wooden chairs with material covered seats and top curved material covered edges. Although these have been quite crudely made, they have a certain charm. In a good played with condition, just a little wear and some minor fabric fraying. Measures 2 3/6″ high x 2 5/6″ deep and wide each.

Antique Glass Fruit Bowl With Handle @ £21.00

Here is a lovely decorative purple antique glass fruit bowl with twisted blue glass handle and original fruit. The fruit are fixed into the bowl (apart from one which has come adrift ) and am not entirely sure what they are made of, but perhaps dried pips of some sort? But each have an outer coloured textured coating which have split and in some cases, have come right away leaving the inner exposed? But this just adds to the character of the piece. The basket itself is in good played with condition. Measures 2 1/4″ high so quite large, therefore would suit antique dolls house where scale does not matter or a large scale dolls house.

Unusual Small Vintage Sideboard @ £4.50

This is a a very old and unusual homemade sideboard, with mock door front that has two metal handles. The door has been given a slanted appearance and has a bit of an Art Deco feel to it. Useful little item for the 1/16th scale dolls house. In a good played with condition. Measures 3 1/4″ long x2″ high.
